Direct School Admission (DSA) Exercise For 2020 Intake

Zhonghua Secondary School invites all current Primary Six students (or equivalent) to apply for admission to our school in the academic year of 2020 through the Direct School Admission (DSA) exercise. We offer talented Singaporeans and foreign students who fulfil the minimum criteria for secondary school admission, and have talent and attained outstanding achievements in one or more of the following:

  1. Badminton (Girls)

Applicants should have:
· Performed well at the trial and interview
· Participated in primary school competitions (e.g. Zonal/National Competitions)
· Attained other outstanding achievements or standards in the specified sports
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the Selection Trials. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the respective CCA teachers to attend a Selection trial.
Candidates are to wear appropriate sports attire, and bring their own game equipment (if applicable).
Performing Arts
  1. Chinese Orchestra
  2. Choir
  3. Symphonic Band

Applicants should have:
· Performed reasonably well at the audition and interview.
· Outstanding achievements in Band, Chinese Orchestra and Choir e.g. at Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation and/or external performances.

Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the Auditions. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the respective CCA teachers to attend an audition. Candidates are to refer to the
pre-requisites and audition requirements.
Others
  1. Computer Programming

Applicants should have:
· Performed well for their test involving skills such as logical thinking, problem solving, pattern recognition and generalization.
During the selection test, students will be asked to demonstrate their skills through a series of tasks done on the computer using the Scratch Programming Tool.
· Participated in primary school competitions (e.g. Olympiad in Informatics, Maths or Science, Coding competitions, etc.).
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the Selection Test. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the respective teachers to attend a selection test.


Application Process (8 May 2019 to 4 Jun 2019)

·        Interested P6 students who are currently studying in MOE Schools:
a)     Please note that only one parent’s SingPass is needed to log in. If parent/ guardian is unable to apply online, they can approach the child’s primary school for assistance.

·        For candidates who are currently NOT studying in MOE Schools:
a)     Please obtain a REGISTRATION NUMBER (RGxxxxxxx) from MOE Customer Service Centre (CSC) from 8 May 2019, 9am to 4 Jun 2019, 3pm before they can apply through the DSA-Sec Portal.

·        Each DSA candidate can indicate up to three choices. Of the three choices, a candidate may use a maximum of two choices to apply to the same school, for two different talent areas of that school.


Selection Process (1 July 2019 to 30 August 2019)

Candidates who are further shortlisted from the selection trials or auditions will be invited to attend an Interview.
We will notify all shortlisted candidates via a phone call/email of the interview date and time by 30th August 2019.

Only shortlisted candidates who are attending the interview are required to submit a photocopy of the following documents at the interview:
Any other supporting certified true copies of testimonials, certificates or portfolio of achievements

Please note that once the child/ward is successfully allocated a place in Zhonghua Secondary School, he/she will not be allowed to participate in the Secondary One Posting Exercise, and will not be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results.
